cap { toe } diy

we have been seeing a lot of color blocking this season, especially in the feet accessories.  emily schuman from cupcakes and cashmere first introduced us to some from her selection here.  kelly framel from theglamourai also introduced us to zara's fall shoe collection with their fun and outrageous colorblocking combos here.  now, geri hirsch from because i'm addicted and sophie monet from stylehive have came up with a slight variation of the color blocking (more of a cap toe) that you can do on your own (and for a lot cheaper).  in their diy, they just color the toe of a pair of boots with white paint but why not add more color to the rest?  why not instead of white do a green or pink or even a stripe of gold above the cap toe detail?  get creative!

perfectly { plaid }

in michigan, we have a little season that comes every november called hunting season.  its where men gear up in plaid and camouflage attire and head to hunting camp to "hunt" (95% of the time is spent drinking with old pals while the other 5% is them sleeping in their blinds with a gun in hand).  while the camo is a little too trailer for my taste, i have been gravitating towards the checkered print (specifically the red and black) since i recently saw someone in my lab sleekishly pulling it off.  although i am in no way, shape or form willing to participate in this season (except maybe for the socially drinking part of course), i am now on the hunt for the perfect plaid shirt.  here are a few to start:

{ bonjour } brunch

no bigger than a (larger) walk in closet, bonjour de paris is the best brunch spot in west palm.  they're known for their breakfast crepes and true french baked goods.  with the line out the door, we managed to snag a small table outside, greeted by a pirate and welcomed with a small basket of slices of a fresh baquette.  now i dont know about you, but when i think of crepes i think of nutella, cream and fresh fruits all stuffed in this thin waffer-like pancake and topped with chocolate syrup.  instead, i was suprised to find that is not the true crepe according to the french (which i should have known being more than half of the ethnicity).  the food was fabulous and we left stuffed, yet i still managed to snag a coffee macaroon for the walk back to the car.

{ sequinly } awaiting

although it was a cloudy weekend down in east florida, we still got dressed up and enjoyed ourselves with a long lost russian friend and a few of his coworkers by grabbing a few fabulous dinners and drinks and ending the nights at a few of their favorite clubs.  even though the weather was slightly disappointing, i was still thankful for the 80 degrees (compared to the 24 and frost back home) that allowed me to wear one of my favorite skirts. however,  once we reached the clubs, i had discovered that i had dressed way too conservative for an all hallows eve down in those parts.  next time ill have to remember that clothing is optional rather than required.  another note to keep in mind: down there, people do not go out until after midnight... so getting ready at eight is not ideal.

im in { miami } trick

my boyfriend wanted to go visit some offices in florida to determine if those are places he would prefer to transfer to once his program is done in the next year.  we started off down in palm beach last thursday but then shimmied on over to miami for the weekend.  we stayed at the four seasons down in the financial district, but spent most of our days down on south beach people watching the most interesting characters i have even seen (given that it was halloween weekend) while sipping margaritas.  although the weather wasn't very welcoming, it still was an entertaining trip that i hope we can do again sometime soon withing the future.
